The Valise Project
Real Image
Ruben Ochoa

Toys, relics, and souvenirs - each one representing some aspect of Mexican culture - are hidden behind colorful doors inside a hand-crafted Olinala lacquerware suitcase. Ruben Ochoa’s perception of each one of these objects, captured in a photograph, is mounted to the lid of the case. Between real object and photographed image students find their own perception of reality.

About the artist: Ruben Ochoa was born and lives in Mexico City. A few days after purchasing his first digital camera Ochoa entered a national photography contest and won first place. Today he exhibits internationally and has won several prizes for his telling observations of people, places and things.
